Hip Conditions

Hip Arthritis

Hip arthritis is caused by a loss of the cartilage in the hip that allows for the joint to glide smoothly. Arthritis can be the result of “wear and tear” over time (degenerative arthritis), an inflammatory health condition such as rheumatoid arthritis or as a result of a prior injury (post traumatic arthritis).

Conservative treatment of hip arthritis includes activity modifications, acetaminophen, anti-inflammatory medication and corticosteroid injections.

Lateral Hip Pain (Greater Trochanteric Bursitis)

Lateral hip pain is often a result of inflammation of the bursa that lies adjacent to the greater trochanter.

Conservative treatment of greater trochanteric bursitis includes activity modification, stretching, anti-inflammatory medication and corticosteroid injections.
