Meet the Team

 

Judy Smith, MD

Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Judy Smith is a leading physician in Orthopaedic Care on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. She is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with Fellowship accreditation in Foot and Ankle Reconstruction. She has won national awards in her field and published numerous peer-reviewed articles in orthopaedic journals.

Dr. Smith trained in New York City. She attended medical school at Columbia University and completed her general surgery and orthopedic training at Yale New Haven Hospital and the internationally renowned Hospital for Special Surgery. Her years of experience and education enable her to restore function and mobility to her patients while also helping to reduce their pain.

Dr. Smith continues to be involved in academia and was formally on the faculty of Emory University School of Medicine. Her passion for learning enables her to stay up to date on the latest advances in orthopaedic care. Additionally, she is a reviewer for the orthopedic journal Foot and Ankle International. She has served on the Board of the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Society and she is a past president of the Orthopaedic Foot Club. She has also worked hard to invest her clinical expertise into those in need and spent several years as a volunteer orthopaedic surgeon in Africa and Belgium.

Dr. Smith and her husband relocated to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 2013. She enjoys bicycling, kayaking, and sailing. Her love of the weather, music, art, cuisine, and hospitality of Southern Mississippi have convinced her to stay forever.

Jane Mattina, FNP-C

Nurse Practitioner

Jane Mattina is a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner. In 2009, she earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Mississippi College, and in 2015, she earned her Master of Science in nursing from Mississippi University for Women. Jane joined Dr. Judy Smith in 2015 and has been collaborating to provide comprehensive orthopedic care to the residents of South Mississippi. She has a special interest in foot and ankle as well as metabolic bone health and general office orthopedics. She is a Mississippi Gulf Coast native and enjoys spending time outdoors with her family. She is Board Certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Mississippi Nurses Association, and National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses.

John Marc Bailey, PA-C Physician Assistant

John Marc Bailey is a Board Certified Physician Assistant. He earned his Associate Degree in business from Jones County Junior College in 1993, his Bachelor of Arts in business from Mississippi College in 1994, and his Bachelor of Science in psychology from Western Carolina University in 2011. In 2014, he continued his education, earning his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies in 2016 from South College. Since 2017, John Marc has worked in collaboration with Dr. Judy Smith working alongside her in the clinic setting as well as utilizing his surgical training in the operating room. He is Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. John Marc enjoys physical fitness and playing music.
